With 2,380 new coronavirus infections reported every day, India’s total number of COVID-19 cases surged to 4,30,49,974, while active cases increased to 13,433, according to figures provided today by the Union Health Ministry.
The death toll increased to 5,22,062 with 56 new fatalities, according to data updated at 8 a.m.
According to the ministry, active cases account for 0.03 per cent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate remains at 98.76 per cent. In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has increased by 1,093 cases.
According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was 0.53 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.43 per cent.
The number of persons who have recovered from the sickness has risen to 4,25,14,479, with a 1.21 per cent case fatality rate.
The total number of doses provided in the country as part of the statewide COVID-19 immunisation effort has surpassed 187.07 crores.
Last year, the country passed the two crore mark on May 4 and the three crore mark on June 23. Among the 56 new deaths are 53 from Kerala and one each from Delhi, Mizoram, and Odisha.
“Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry stated on its website, adding that the distribution of figures per state is subject to additional verification and reconciliation.
