Just when things seemed to go back to normal, and this time really going back to normal like in 2019, the recent rise in cases indicated otherwise. More than half of Indians believe that the 4th Wave is here and the experts will be effectively able to handle this wave too, stated a survey by LocalCircles.
This comes as India reported 2,927 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the number of active cases to 16,279. India reported 32 deaths, taking the total death toll to 5,23,654. The recovery rate was recorded at 98.75 per cent.
This survey found out that 1 out of 3 Indians believe that the 4th Wave of COVID 19 is here. When they were asked when they expect the 4th Wave to start considering the reopening of flights and resurgence of COVID 19 in Delhi – NCR, 29% said not in 2022 while 4% said not in the next 6 months.
However, 34% of them believed that it has already started on April. 13 per cent said May-June, seven per cent said July-August and four per cent said September-October. Nine per cent did not have an opinion.
When they were asked about the 5-7 COVID 19 variants in circulation, and how confident are they in India’s capability to handle things, 55 per cent said that they are ‘highly confident’, while 29 per cent said ‘somewhat confident’, 4 per cent said ‘very little confident’, and 8 per cent ‘not confident at all’.
After the disastrous 2nd Wave of COVID 19 last year at this time of the year, the government prepared itself for the 3rd wave and hence it passed by pretty well than the 2nd wave.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to meet the chief ministers of all states and union territories today to discuss the COVID-19 situation in the country.
