According to statistics published by the Union Health Ministry on Sunday, a total of 3,324 coronavirus infections were recorded in a single day, bringing the overall number of cases to 4,30,79,188, while the number of active cases grew to 19,092.
The death toll has risen to 5,23,843 with 40 deaths, according to figures updated at 8 a.m.
In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has increased by 403 cases.
According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was 0.71 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.68 per cent.
The number of persons who have recovered from the sickness has risen to 4,25,36,253, with a case fatality rate of 1.22 per cent.
The total number of doses provided in the country as part of the statewide COVID-19 immunisation effort has surpassed 189.17 crores.
On May 4, India passed the two-crore-case mark, and on June 23, it passed the three-crore-case mark.
About 36 deaths were reported dead in Kerala, two in Karnataka, and one each in Delhi and Maharashtra.
So far, the country has reported 5,23,843 deaths, including 1,47,843 in Maharashtra, 69,047 in Kerala, 40,101 in Karnataka, 38,025 in Tamil Nadu, 26,175 in Delhi, 23,507 in Uttar Pradesh, and 21,201 in West Bengal.
“Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that state-wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.
