Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope has stated that there is no need to make face masks necessary in the state at this time, but if the number of new COVID-19 cases increases, face coverings would be made mandatory.
On Saturday, Mr Tope was speaking to the media in Aurangabad, when Maharashtra announced 155 new coronavirus cases, up from 148 on Friday.
“The statistics are increasing in tiny places, which is concerning. As a result, Prime Minister Narendra Modi (recently) met with state chief ministers and warned them to be on the lookout. There is no need for limits as of now. However, if the number of instances increases, we will have to impose limitations and make masks mandatory “He stated.
Mr Tope stated that they had opted to “wait and see.”
We must focus on the COVID-19 vaccine in children aged 12 to 14 and 15 to 17 years. There are certain difficulties with this because schools are now closed. If the Centre issues protocols for children aged 6 to 12, we would apply them as soon as possible,’ Mr Tope added.
On the occasion of Gudhi Padwa, the Marathi New Year, Maharashtra lifted all COVID-19-related restrictions on April 2.
Mr Tope, on the other hand, has asked people to wear masks willingly in order to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
