Is Covavax Vaccine now available for children? Here’s what Serum’s CEO Poonawalla Said, Read Here

Serum Institute of India’s COVID 19 vaccine, Covavax is now approved for administration to children, CEO Adar Poonawalla announced on Tuesday. According to the reports, children can take the jab at private centres with a provision for it being made on the COWIN portal.

Earlier on Tuesday, Poonawalla took to Twitter and wrote, “Covovax (@Novavax), is now available for children in India. This is the only vaccine manufactured in India that is also sold in Europe and has an efficacy of > 90%. This is in line with Shri @narendramodi Ji’s vision of providing yet another vaccine to protect our children.”

On Monday, official sources said that Covavax is now available for children aged 12 to 17 years at private centres before Poonawalla confirmed it.

The price of one dose of Covavax is Rs 900 + GST and an additional Rs 150 of the hospital service charge, the sources told PTI.

India’s drug regulator had approved Covovax for restricted use in emergency situations in adults on December 28 last year and in the 12-17 age group, subject to certain conditions, on March 9.
