A lawsuit has been launched against Ranveer Singh’s Jayeshbhai Jordaar over a sex-determination scene
The trailer for Ranveer Singh’s Jayeshbhai Jordaar has supposedly placed the film in legal difficulties. According to reports, an NGO named Youth Against Crime has launched a complaint against the film for the trailer’s prenatal sex-determination sequence.
JAYESHBHAI JORDAAR IN LEGAL DIFFICULTY
Jayeshbhai Jordaar, starring Ranveer Singh, will be released in theatres on May 13, 2022. As per Live Law, an NGO named Youth Against Crime has filed a complaint with the Delhi High Court against the depiction of a prenatal sex-determination sequence in the film’s trailer.
Advocate Pawan Prakash Pathak filed the petition, claiming that the ultrasound technology was utilised for sex determination in the trailer, which is forbidden under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act of 1994.
The plea said that the ultrasound clinic scenario, where the technology of ultrasound for sex selection is being marketed openly without censorship, is not permitted under Sections 3, 3A, 3B, 4, 6, and 22 of the PC & PNDT Act, and hence the instant PIL.
