The price hike announcement comes days after RBI announced the hike in repo rate by 40 basis points to control the rising inflation for the first time in 2 years.

Following the hike in lending rates, HUL CEO Sanjiv Mehta had said, “We have seen prices of toilet soaps, laundry products rising to current levels, we see a stress on consumption levels.”

Another reason for the price hike is due to the Russia – Ukraine war. Many supply chain disruptions were caused that led to increased input costs for these companies. They are running out of capacity to absorb them and hence seeing a price rise.
