After NIA was recently charged with developing a national database for internal security, the Ministry of Home Affairs conducted a high-level meeting on Friday.
The Union Home Secretary presided over the discussion, which was accompanied by the NIA chief, CBI chief, NATGRID officers, IB officers, ED officers, and other MHA officials.
Recently, at the NIA’s foundation day programme, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the investigation procedure should be drastically changed.
Technology, data, and information, rather than the third degree, should be used in investigations. To effect these modifications, a database needs to be created. As a result, the NIA has been tasked with developing a national database for cases involving drugs, hawala transactions, weapons smuggling, counterfeit cash, bombings, terror funding and terrorism, the Union Home Minister had stated.
According to NIA sources, NATGRID, IB, and NIA are working together to create the database.
The Benefits of a National Database
The central government’s goal in creating the national database is to have all information linked to drug trafficking and terror attacks, as well as other instances, available in one location with a single click. That is why it is being developed under the direction of the NIA.
The database will contain information that will be useful during the inquiry. Such a database may be utilised to obtain instant information with a single click, speeding up the investigation and assisting in the prevention of such tragedies in the country.
