CSK made a terrific comeback last night by creating history. The team bagged the biggest win of IPL 2022 as it won from DC by 91 runs. Previously, the chances of CSK being in the league were slim and it felt like they would exit soon but after MS Dhoni is back again as captain, there is a good chance that they can qualify for playoffs. Since Dhoni’s takeover, they have lost only one match which was against RCB.
Chennai has won 4 out of 11 games with 3 games yet to happen. To get back in the game they have to win all the upcoming 3 matches and get 14 points. Even after securing 14 points, it won’t be guaranteed that CSK will make it to the playoffs as Net Run Rate will be the second deciding factor.
Firstly, they have to win all the 3 matches against MI (Mumbai Indians), GT (Gujarat Titans) and RR (Rajasthan Royals).
Secondly, if the following matches have these results then CSK might make it to the playoffs:
- MI vs KKR (Any result)
- LSG vs GT (Any result)
- RR beat DC
- CSK beat MI
- PBKS beat RCB
- KKR beat SRH
- CSK beat GT
- LSG vs RR (Any result)
- DC beat PBKS
- MI beat SRH
- LSG beat KKR (Any result)
- GT beat RCB
- CSK beat RR
- MI beat DC
- SRH beat PBKS
Even if all these results go in favour of Chennai, the one amongst the 3 teams – CSK, SRh or PBKS will tie at 14 points at the end. At this point, the Net Run Rate will be a deciding factor.
