In 24 hours, India adds 3,207 new Covid cases and 29 virus-related deaths

According to Union Health Ministry data published on Monday, India recorded 3,207 new coronavirus infections, bringing the overall number of COVID-19 cases to 4,31,05,401, while active cases fell to 20,403.

The death toll increased to 5,24,093 with 29 more fatalities, according to figures updated at 8 a.m.

In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has decreased by 232 cases. According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was 0.95 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.82 per cent.

The number of persons who have recovered from the sickness has risen to 4,25,60,905, with a case fatality rate of 1.22 per cent observed. The total number of doses provided in the country as part of the countrywide COVID-19 immunisation campaign has surpassed 190.34 crores.

On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, followed by 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It exceeded 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one million on December 19.

Last year, the country passed the two-crore mark on May 4 and the three-crore mark on June 23.

“Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that the state-wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.
