Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has skyrocketed at the box office by making a whopping $450 million (about Rs 3,482 crore) at the worldwide box office on its opening weekend. It is the 2nd biggest global debut after the COVID 19 pandemic after Spider-Man No Way Home.
In India, it made $12.7 million (about 98 crores) on its opening weekend and became the 4th biggest Hollywood film after Spiderman No Way Home, Avengers Endgame, and Avengers Infinity War.
Of that $450 million worldwide, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness grossed an estimated $185 million (about Rs. 1,431 crores) from cinemas in the US and Canada, with the remaining $265 million (about Rs. 2,051 crores) coming in from 49 markets elsewhere.
The new MCU movie is also released in IMAX format in May month and has bagged about $33 million (about Rs 255 crore) worldwide. For Marvel Studios, this figure is the 5th best global opening in IMAX.
On the other hand, Fantastic Beasts- The Secrets of Dumbledore was released on 8th April 2022 and bagged an additional $14.8 million (about Rs 114 crore) worldwide taking its total to $363.8 million (about Rs 2,815 crore) this weekend.
