In 24 hours, India records 2,288 new COVID-19 cases, with 10 deaths

With 2,288 new coronavirus infections recorded in a single day, India’s total COVID-19 cases increased to 4,31,07,689, while active cases declined to 19,637, according to statistics updated today by the Union Health Ministry.

The death toll increased to 5,24,103 with 10 more fatalities, according to figures updated at 8 a.m.

In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has decreased by 766 cases.

According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was 0.47 percent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.79 percent.

The number of persons who have recovered from the sickness has risen to 4,25,63,949, with a 1.22 percent case fatality rate.

The total number of doses provided in the country as part of the statewide COVID-19 immunisation effort has surpassed 190.50 crores.

India’s COVID-19 total had reached 20 lakh on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It exceeded 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19.

Last year, the country passed the two crore mark on May 4 and three crores on June 23.

Six of the ten new deaths are from Kerala, three from Delhi, and one from Karnataka.

“Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that the state-wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.
