Indian Railways introduces ‘Baby Berth’ on select trains for trial, Know which train has this facility

The Indian Railways has introduces a separate ‘Baby Berth’ (seats for newly-born children) in trains on Mothers’ Day on May 8 where infants will be able o sleep beside their mother comfortably.

“A baby berth has been introduced in Coach no 194129/ B4, berth no 12 and 60 in Lucknow Mail, to facilitate mothers travelling with their baby. The fitted baby seat is foldable about the hinge and is secured with a stopper,” tweeted DRM, Lucknow Division of Northern Railway zone.

This berth is essential for women passengers who go out with their newborn children. They can book this seat with the extra berth so that the child can travel comfortably too. The railways will also provide a stopper as a security measure next to the berth so that the child doesn’t fall while asleep. No extra fee will be charged for these special berths.

This berth is foldable, so it can be raised and lowered whenever required. This facility is currently available in lower seats. The Indian Railways tweeted that after introducing this new facility, women travelling with newborns will be at ease.
