This berth is essential for women passengers who go out with their newborn children. They can book this seat with the extra berth so that the child can travel comfortably too. The railways will also provide a stopper as a security measure next to the berth so that the child doesn’t fall while asleep. No extra fee will be charged for these special berths.
This berth is foldable, so it can be raised and lowered whenever required. This facility is currently available in lower seats. The Indian Railways tweeted that after introducing this new facility, women travelling with newborns will be at ease.
