YouTube Shorts, which came into existence after Instagram reels and Facebook short videos, has got a brand new feature that will make creators’ video-making process much easier. YouTube Shorts for iOS is getting a new Green Screen tool that will allow creators to remix their Shorts by adding clips from other videos. Creators can use up to 60 seconds of a long YouTube video as the background for their new original Shorts video.
Google announced this feature via their new blog post. This feature is currently available on iOS and it is expected to expand to the Android version very soon in a few months.
To access this Green Screen feature, you can tap the Create button under the video you are watching. Then from the 3 dot menu of the Short, select Green Screen and the desired video portion.
Whenever someone creates a new Short with Green Screen, it will be credited to the original video with a link in the Shorts player. Long-form video content creators on YouTube who don’t want their content to be remixed by Shorts Creators can opt-out of it as well.
Google introduced YouTube Shorts back in the pandemic era of 2020 when Instagram bought reels. All these started to spur after TikTok was banned in a few countries.
