In India, there are 2,202 new Coronavirus cases and 27 virus-related deaths

The Union Health Ministry announced 1,569 new coronavirus infections and 19 associated deaths in India in the previous 24 hours. With the most recent casualties, the death toll has risen to 5,24,260.

There are currently 16,400 active cases. In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has decreased by 917 cases.

The previous day, the authorities reported 2,202 new cases and 27 fatalities.

According to the health ministry, the daily positivity rate was 0.74 percent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.59 percent.

The number of persons who have recovered from the sickness has risen to 4,25,82,243, with a case fatality rate of 1.22 percent. The total number of doses provided in the country as part of the statewide COVID-19 immunisation effort has surpassed 191.37 crores.

On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It reached 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19. Last year, the country passed the two crore mark on May 4 and the three crore mark on June 23.

The government emphasised that comorbidities were responsible for more than 70% of the fatalities.

“Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that state-wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.
