In India, there are 20,528 new Covid cases and 49 virus-related deaths

With 20,528 new coronavirus infections recorded in a single day, India’s total COVID-19 cases jumped to 4,37,50,599, with 1,43,449 active cases, according to Union Health Ministry data released on Sunday.

The death toll increased to 5,25,709 with 49 additional deaths, according to figures updated at 8 a.m.

According to the ministry, active cases account for 0.33 percent of overall infections, while the nationwide COVID-19 recovery rate is 98.47 percent.

In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload in the nation has increased by 2,689 cases.

On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It reached 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19.

Last year, the nation passed the 2 crore mark on May 4 and the 3 crore mark on June 23. On January 25, this year, it surpassed the four-crore threshold.

So far, 199.47 crore Covid vaccine doses have been delivered across the country as part of the statewide COVID-19 immunization program, according to the ministry.

“Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that the state-wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.
