Low Sodium Foods you must have for a healthy living

Sodium is a crucial mineral that performs many essential functions in your body. It is found naturally in foods like eggs, vegetables and of course, table salt. However, too much sodium can be harmful to your health. It can lead to many complications like heart failure, high blood pressure and kidney disease.

Today we will list a few low-sodium food items that you must include in your diet:

  • Peas: Peas, dried beans, and lentils are low in sodium and high in protein. Having these raw is the best way as the frozen or canned beans and peas might have an excess layer of sodium in them.
  • Dairy Products: Dairy products like yoghurt, milk and lactose-free dairy products are low in sodium. However, before buying such products, make sure the labels as some of them can be high in sodium, especially cheese. Soy yoghurt is also rich in calcium, vitamin A and D.
  • Vegetables and Fruits: Fresh fruits like bananas and apples are a great choice to get started with your low-sodium diet. Apart from fruits, you can pick low sodium vegetables like spinach, carrots, broccoli etc.
  • Whole grains: Whole grains like brown or white rice, quinoa or barley are a great option for low sodium food options. For snacks, you can opt for unsalted popcorns, oatmeal, whole grain bread etc.

So, these are some of the low-sodium foods that you can have for a healthy living or if you have high blood pressure or any heart disease.
